Week 6

As I am nearing the end of my internship I realize my favorite thing about this experience is not knowing what will happen when I walk into the office. Everyday is new and different depending on who is arrested and what else happened the night before. It is also interesting to observe the people who walk through the doors and how they react. Everyone is so unique and I have enjoyed seeing what really happens. It is almost like a behind the scenes look–both good and bad.

I have gotten really good at organizational tasks and figuring out a course of action with less adult direction than I had in school. There have been times when both Natalie and I have had to make judgements based on what we think is best and not blindly doing what someone else tells us to do. I have become more confident in my own decision making skills. My people skills have also greatly improved.

I see my internship experience as a very positive one. That’s not to say that everyday was super fun, there were days that felt slow, but there were still things I was picking up on just from being in a work environment such as this one. I am excited to do more internships while I am in college because I think it is a really good way to get to know a specific field of work and to build connections to people in those sectors of work.
