Green Cove Springs Marina

As another week comes to an end, I am pleased to have an opportunity to reflect on the progress we've made thus far, and on the new things I have learned.

Installing the mast light:

There are two lights in the setup. One light illuminates the deck, the other turns on when the boat is under engine power at night. Each light has their own hot wire and switch while also sharing a common ground wire. The wires on the light must be connected to the wires running up the mast.

A halyard is the rope that runs up the mast and is used for raising and lowering sails. We had to change out the old halyards for new ones by connecting the end of the old line to the beginning of the new line with wire and tape. As you pull the old line out, the new line feeds back up into the mast. Once all of the old line in out, you can disconnect it from the new line.

Painting the exhaust pipe with heat resistant paint. This fresh coat of paint will give the pipe a new protective enamel.

Painting the boot stripe: The boot stripe runs along the side of the boat about where the waterline is. It also separates the topside paint and the bottom paint.
