The past few weeks at my internship has taught me a lot about being an independent worker. We are very used to teachers and parents reaching out to us for guidance, but in a work setting you really have to advocate for yourself. It is difficult to succeed and feel like you are on top of everything if you do not ask a lot of questions. I also learned to work efficiently as a team and as an individual, and I have gained general knowledge surrounding the things that we explored over our time here such as the applications and programs, companies, and the industry as whole. I strongly believe that all of these skills will help me immensely when it comes time to work independently in college.

About the industry, I have learned that running a successful business is all about making connections and analyzing the competition. We spent most of our time looking at different companies to see how we could set our prices and policies based on what the competitors are doing. Drone insurance, as a generally new industry, has many new companies trying to enter into the competition and all of them are trying to offer different things to gain popularity. As this is the case, it can be stressful, because everything is getting pushed out as fast as possible and our focus can change in an instant.

The overarching tip that I would give to future interns is that you need to self-advocate, and that you should never be doing work without understanding the bigger picture of the work that you are doing.
