This week, I learned how to manage a website and started troubleshooting email campaigns. This was challenging because I am not the best with technology, and had to learn how to work new websites. I also participated in meditation again this week– I found it was much harder to meditate when I had more going on both at my internship and at home.

My internship has been particularly difficult because it can feel as if I am in therapy multiple times a week. I often do exercises that a patient would do in their session with Jamie. I find some of this hard; in school, you are never taught how to be still with yourself and okay with yourself. Jamie also introduced the idea of “living without a narrative” to me– without going forwards or backwards in my “story”.

This internship is changing my impression of art therapy immensely. I always knew how beneficial it was and how further strides can be made once taking language out of therapy– however, I did not know the large spectrum of art therapy. It can touch individuals of every background, with any condition, in any life circumstance. I also have learned a lot about myself– about the roles I play, the way I learn, and the way I communicate. I have learned more about my strengths (listening and forming questions) and my weaknesses (public speaking).
