In the first week of my internship at Therrien Landscaping, I had to do different types of landscaping projects such as spring cleanups, mulching, and edging. Spring cleanups involve cleaning up all of the leaves and debris that have fallen on a yard over the winter in order to prepare the property for other landscaping work in the coming months. Mulching is pretty straight forward in spreading the mulch. Edging serves to define the edge of plant beds and keep unwanted weeds off the edge of the beds. Working during COVID-19 has not made landscaping too much more difficult given the outdoor workspace, but interacting with clients is slightly more difficult, as we have to maintain our distance, and we have had to work in smaller crews with everyone driving their own vehicle to each job. I like that I get to work in a way that also is an exercise and keeps my moving. I feel fortunate that I am able to be active and outside a lot when many people are stuck in their houses due to COVID-19. Our company will provide different services depending on the season. In the winter we will plow, spring and fall mostly involve cleaning up the yards, and in the summer the majority of the work in mowing lawns.
