  • What I accomplished this week is make Sunshine Letters to constituents that I have found in the newspaper. Sunshine Letters are for people in districts that Rep. Cory Atkins represents (most of Chelmsford, most of Acton, Concord, and Carlisle) who have done something great in the town. For example, if someone won an award and was recognized in their towns newspaper, I would write a letter for you!

  • An awkward situation that I faced was I was dealing with a schedule mishap with work and my internship. It was awkward because my boss scheduled me differently than what I asked, causing me to be in a tight situation timing wise. So I asked my supervisor if it was okay to leave 20 minutes early so I can get my situation figured out and she let me! Sometimes just voicing your problems and asking for help is the best way to deal with sticky situations like this.

  • My internship has changed the way I see the State House because I used to think Senators and House Reps are highly specialized people. People I wouldn't see often, let alone be in the same room with. But being here and going to events with senators, sitting next to house reps, and also networking with senators and house reps makes you realize that they are just like you. Regular people who want to help change their communities for the better. Being in the State House humbles the positions that these people are in and makes you feel just as important as them.
