The first week was fun. We sat in on a bunch of cases at the courthouse, most of them were civil but there was a couple of criminal cases which were cool to watch. We also sat in on one jury trial which was interesting seeing what the jurors decided on after watching each side make their case. We also did some re-organizing of some of the file drawers and papers on some of the cases.
The work environment is very professional and formal and we have to wear business attire. It was intimidating at first but the people that work at the courthouse were all very nice and welcoming. I like being able to see and work in a professional environment. I have already learned a lot about the local judicial system and it has only been a week!
