Week 6
This week went by super fast. We got two new baby foals (they are 2 months old) and their mothers - super cute!. It's been a lot of work setting up their new home in a safe way as they easily can get themselves into trouble. It is always hard when babies come because they have special needs. We have installed cameras so we can monitor them 24/7. For now, they get to go out for around an hour with their mothers, this will slowly increase as they get used to their environment and being handled and touched by humans. It's awesome that I get to be a part of this exciting project and I looked forward to learning all about raising foals.
I have loved showing up to my internship every day and I have learned a bunch about training horses, running a barn and every day up's and down's. I still have a lot to learn and many things to experience but this internship has taken me the first step in realising how much I love the sport and industry and how I can get more involved.
