The first week of my internship at Finish post was a unique, useful experience. I started by taking the commuter rail and subway to the center of Boston. Despite the 2 hour commute round trip, I was able to get a surprising amount of work done on the train! When I got to Finish, I was greeted by two other interns in my shift. They were all incredibly welcoming and showed me the tasks at hand (they had started a few hours earlier). It consisted of pretty simple chores like restocking the kitchen, checking the rooms, and taking out the trash occasionally. However, the rest of the time, you can either step in and watch the professionals work with clients in the color grading suits or work on your individual "trailer contest". They give you a movie and a different genre, and you have to create a trailer to that new genre. At the end of every season, there is a screening and competition for the best trailer!

My work enviroment is very casual in attire and formality. The "boss" lets you be independent and choose what you want to do with your time. I am able to poke my head in the rooms where the others are working and observe their workflow.

Finish Post is part of a post production house for narrative or commercial film work. Finish specializes in minor VFX compositing, some editting, but mostly color grading, which is the process of adjusting and enhancing the color of films--digital or analog.
