Week Five
This Weeks Prompts:
-
Summarize what your internship has taught you about yourself and your career and industry as a whole.
-
Provide an internship tip for future interns
To summarize what the last month and a half of my internship program has taught me, is learning how to delegate my time. I t has also taught me how important communicating with those I am working with really is. I have been emailing back and fourth with many different parties discussing certain projects my mentors have put me on.
Through this experience I have learned independency, and more greatly I have learned to use my voice. Although I am not at the top of running these projects I have found that my opinions come with some value and are taken into consideration; this has given me the confidence to reach out to contributors and speak my mind regarding presentations and formats more specifically.
If I were to leave one piece of helpful information for future interns, I would tell the, communication is always key. If you feel that you have too much or too little work to do, talk to your mentor they will understand. Another thing is you are your own boss sometimes, and you need to tell yourself when to get the work done. You will most likely have deadlines depending on the work you are doing, stay on top of them! Finally, have fun and learn! You chose to invest your time into the internship program with a mentor of your interest, don't waste your time, get involved in the work!
