Q: To date, what has been the most challenging aspect of your internship?

For me, the most challenging part of my internship has been designing and coming up with lesson plans for the 5th graders at Willard. When creating a lesson there are so many little things that you have to keep in mind so that everything runs smoothly. For example, you want to make sure the lesson is interesting and fun, yet connects to current curriculum and is educational. You want to make sure the lesson follows the guidelines of Rivers and Revolutions, while also making sure that the 5th grades don't go into complete "chaos mode". There are many more things I have realized that I must take into consideration while planning our next visit, but mostly I just want to see the kids getting something valuable out of each visit.

Q: Describe your supervisors management style and one thing you have learned about this company, or the field and/or the industry as a whole.

I really enjoy and adore my supervisor, Micheal Goodwin's management style. He is always radiating positive energy and always gets me excited about the work that is being done. He also gives me wonderful feedback after each lesson telling me about what worked and what did not -- while also giving me tips on what might help the lesson be even better. The work I have done for Micheal so far has been the most enjoyable and rewarding work I have experienced. One thing that I have learned about the teaching industry is how incredibly hard it is, all the teachers I have had make it look like a breeze! Like I stated in the first question there is so much more that goes into a day of teaching and so many things that you must take into consideration in order to make a successful lesson. After this internship, I definitely have a newfound respect for teachers and how challenging their job is (although they always seem to make it look easy).
