  • To date, what has been the most challenging aspect of your internship?

  • Describe your supervisor’s management style (formal, informal, etc.).

  • Describe one new thing you have learned about this company, or the field and/or industry as a whole.

So far, in my internship, I have found it to be challenging when certain tasks require some mental problem-solving. I'm typically more comfortable with more direct work, although I am glad that I am able to delve into more thought-provoking tasks. An example of this would be a particular assignment in which I had to analyze a similar drone insurance company and figure out their pricing options so that Ascend can use the data as a model for their own pricing options. I got to create my own spreadsheet to lay out the data.

My manager for the duration of my internship has been Jason Griswold and It's certainly fair to say that his management style is relaxed. He has yet to pressure me or my fellow interns with hard deadlines, rather he gives us work that can be completed within a reasonable span of time. He is also very open to letting us ask questions if there is any confusion concerning the assignment at hand.

I would definitely have to say that what I have learned so far was not what I had expected it to be. I don't mean that in a negative way, rather a general way. After seeing some of my supervisors taking calls and talking to people quite a bit, I am surprised to see how much personal interaction there is in running a business.
