My second week working with IMPACT was another success. At first, I found the outreach aspect of the internship pretty challenging for the mere fact that it was new for me. My tasks consisted of reaching out to various schools about participating in the companies Skinny on Skin program and touching base with individuals who signed up for activities but didn't seem to finish it. I was able to get the hang of it once I talked to my supervisor, who is open to helping me with everything I am confused about. Another thing that I find challenging is engaging in staff meetings. I usually don't have anything to say because the staff meetings consist of topics introduced before I was an intern, so I can't contribute anything. The staff meetings in the morning are informal, and everyone can contribute their weekly updates. When it comes to my supervisor, she is fun and is easy to talk to. The conversation between us flows, and I can learn a lot from her. I learned that May is Melanoma month, and every Wednesday, IMPACT will go live on Facebook to educate the general through stories and questions and answers. As we plan for the upcoming events, I realized that a lot of effort goes into putting everything together. While talking in the staff meetings, communication is critical, and that everyone plays a vital role in the planning organizations.
