My past weeks working with IMPACT have been action-packed. I've worked on multiple different projects to help out with the company, so I haven't completed a single project. I find myself enjoying the tasks when there are various options for me to choose from. This week I experienced something new; I sat in a run-through for an upcoming live stream event airing on Facebook and on YouTube. I familiarized myself with the social platform to see how it operates then I was "backstage." So I could see the speakers, but they weren't able to see me. It felt weird, but the technology behind the idea was cool. We also received a draft for the new IMPACT Melanoma shirts, and we were all able to put in our input about our likes and dislikes; At first, it was challenging to apply my ideas because I didn't know how the other staff would respond, but I broke out of my shell shared my thoughts, and they were all able to agree. I think this was helpful to get reassurance from the team because it now allows me to talk and minimize the awkwardness. So far, this internship is exciting me in my career as an inspiring nurse because I can see connections. A nursing student will speak at the live sessions, so it will be interesting to chat with him about melanoma and other nursing topics.
