Something I accomplished this week was getting to know a student who is on the robot.  His name is Ewan, and he had cancer.  Ewan and his two brothers had to be in isolation for a year, and therefor they were not allowed to come to school.  Ewan is a sweet, energetic, kind kid who is eager to learn.  It has been a little hard to teach a kid on a robot, because explaining something is much easier in person.  It was exciting to have to learn how to communicate in a different way, and it was fun learning how to be more adaptive and flexible.  Thankfully I have had very few difficult awkward and/or difficult situations during my time at the internship, but some thing that was hard for me was adjusting to the classroom schedule.  The kids and Mrs. Curley have been in this classroom for almost a full school year by now, and they have gotten used to when, where, and how to do things.  To overcome this I had to be communicative and flexible with change.  For example we have had a lot of fire drills in the past week, and that really messed with our planned schedule.  The internship changing my impression of my career field and industry as a whole in many ways.  I would really love to do something in the future with children, but maybe not be a first grade teacher.  I really do like how respectful, welcoming, and helpful all the teachers are to one another, but the kids are a lot to handle for a full day.  I am really happy to have this experience, and I think the internship has been extremely beneficial towards

helping me find my specific field of interest.
