It's important to recognize the work of volunteers. In conclusion to Boston's first ever city-wide Needle Take Back Day, Malaika and Annissa hosted a meeting inviting all the organizations that helped make needle take back day a success. We discussed what we did right and what we can do better next time. After, Annissa asked us to come to the weekly council meeting and to stand behind her to represent the issue regarding lack of more safe needle disposal sites.

This week I also began research for my original research question: Why should we have more work/living spaces for artists in Boston? What I found in my research was nevertheless impressive. Specifically, the artists in the Boston AIR (Artists In Residence) organization shocked me with the beautiful projects they are working on. This research caused me to ask myself, why are artists vital to communities? How can we keep our artists in our city?
