My First Week

I spent the first week learning about Impact Melanoma, and the goals and programs that they have created. I learned about all five programs that Impact Melanoma has, which include Skinny on Skin, Billy's Buddies, Support Sites, Practice Safe Skin, and Your Skin is In. Skinny On Skin is a program dedicated to teaching beauty professionals how to spot signs of melanoma on their clients. Billy's Buddies and Support Sites are both programs that provide support by telephone or in person for those suffering through melanoma or family of somebody that does. Practice Safe Skin is a program that provides sunscreen dispensers to parks and recreation areas to promote sun protection. Your Skin is In is a program that educates teenagers about the dangers of tanning and creates high school support. I have done a lot of mailing out packages, testing scanners, emailing sponsors, setting up donors for an auction, and researching for new programs. This week we started working on a program that works to educate camp counselor to increase sun protection in camps.
