Week 3

This week was somewhat of a slower week. I started off the week by reading a lab report that was done on the same topic (Insulation effectiveness in Cold Weather Clothing Systems) to learn more about what has already been determined related to this topic. The goal of this project is to find out what material has the most effective insulating properties. For the second half, I went to a “Town Hall” meeting, which was interesting because I got to learn about some of the other projects that are going on in the base. I finished off the week by taking my weekly swatch resistivity data, as well as learned about how to use a experimenting device called a Guarded Ring Hot Plate. This device is somewhat refrigerator looking and is used to measure the Rct and CLO values of a particular material. Next week I will be using the device to take measurements for 3 materials that are being used in our project.
