I began my internship on Wednesday, so I have only had three days so far. The main purpose my mentor, Maria, had for these few days was just to get to know the environment, people, and goals of the studio. She had me take a couple of classes to learn more about the styles of dance and yoga they offer and the specific benefits of each (ex: fitness, empowerment, stiffness). I also sat in on an "Ageless Grace" class, which is a newly discovered method of brain fitness that prevents and slows cognitive decline. Apart from settling in and getting to know the studio, I also created an Instagram account for the studio as a way to hopefully broaden their audience, promote themselves and their classes, and reach potential customers. Finally, I worked on a few miscellaneous tasks for the studio such as tracking income and creating flyers for upcoming classes. The work environment is definitely very casual; being a yoga studio, the atmosphere is very relaxed and requires comfortable clothes you can move in.
