In my third week of work I think that I am gaining a lot of good experience for the future in a workplace, I think I am learning more about how to deal with customers in a proper manner as well as learning how to deal with difficult situations in which customers choose to make your job a lot harder then it needs to be. Sometimes it is a good refresher when someone is difficult, you must remain calm and understand that they are the customer first and it is your job to serve them. One of my accomplishments that I completed this week was when a customer had three $500 winner scratch tickets coming into the store and I didn’t have enough in the register and the envelope in which we keep the extra money. So I had to figure out that I needed to head to the safe, take some money out and then have to remember to replace it before the end of my shift. An awkward moment that occurred while I was working was, which looked like a homeless man walked in and something had leaked from either his pants or his jacket. So I cannot have customers standing in whatever he leaked on the floor. Once he had left the store I had to pick it up, which was pretty gross. My internship is definitely changing what I want to do when I get older, not that I wanted to get in the business of owning a store It definitely opens your eyes to what you want to choose to do with your life.
