The most rewarding activity this week was seeing workouts clients were given and then understanding what muscles were being targeted. Before, there were some exercises that I was a little unsure about, but after being able to experience personal training from a client's perspective and being given exercises myself, I gained a much better understanding. 

 

Something that I have learned about managing stressful situations is the importance of staying calm. Through my time at Fitness Together, I have witnessed a few different stressful situations and saw the ways that they were handled. For instance, in a business like Fitness Together, there are frequent encounters with difficult people. In order to manage these situations, the trainers have to stay calm and collected. Although I’m sure that can be difficult to do, it is crucial in solving a problem and keeping things civilized and professional. It is also very important for the reputation of the business. Even if that person decides to leave, it is best for there to be as little confrontation as possible, so that Fitness Together can keep a good image. 

 

I think I have acquired a few different types of skills that will make me think I could be successful in this industry. One big skill would be the ability to communicate with many different types of people and adapt from one style of working out to the next. The social aspect of personal training is very important. Another skill that I have improved is the strategy behind making a workout, for example big muscles are worked out first and then smaller muscle groups. I also know a lot more types of workouts and understand that variety is important.
