I liked a lot about the internship- learning about the business side of the small business, talking with the clients and trainers, working out and learning about creating workouts. I definitely appreciated having a change from school and learning in a more hands-on way. There were some moments where I felt I didn’t have that much to do or I couldn’t be helpful in any way. Occasionally, I felt like there was a little too much observing and shadowing.

I have improved my skills in a variety of ways. My communication skills have improved, and I am now better at interacting with a wide range of people and can quickly adapt from one personality to another. I have also improved my understanding of muscular and structural anatomy of the body, through being given workouts on my own, observing other people workout, and asking questions. I got exposure to a wider variety of workouts, so I now  have broader knowledge of exercises, workouts, dynamic warm ups, and stretches. I also know how to create a workout plan. My computer and data analyzing skills have gotten better, and I now know how the software used for analysis and organization at Fitness

The internship experience has affected my goals and plans for the future because it has made me realize both how important athletics and socializing and communicating with other people is for me. Though I don’t necessarily want to work a career in personal training, I do value fitness and athletics a lot and think that I may want to pursue a career related to it. I also want to definitely be in a career that is collaborative and one where there is a lot of involvement with other people. I think the internship has also helped me to see the importance of actually being interested in what you’re learning and how much more meaningful it makes the experience.
